One of the games that certainly stood out was Robocop: Rouge City. The game is based on the successful 80’s action movie franchise starring Peter Weller, who will also reprise his role in the game! They certainly marked the way on how to make action movies and overall practical effects, combined with digital effects.

The movie follows Officer Alex James Murphy and how an unfortunate event led him to become part-robot, part-human. He was instrumentalized and he became Robocop, used by the Detroit police to fight crime.

The city is ridden with crime, and in 2043 things look bleak. It is up to Robocop to clean out the mess. It is the perfect setup for an action movie full of shooting, explosions and overall mayhem.

The movie follows a cyberpunk aesthetic, with all the core elements present. We now live in the age of nostalgia, so making a video game about the beloved franchise is certainly welcome.

The game resembles Cyberpunk: 2077, and Deus Ex quite a lot. You can see tech and combat abilities similar to these games. You can also meet characters and make quests. It all looks very promising. In the game, it seems you will be doing quests, and also following along with a main plot to uncover corruption going on in the city, let’s see how far they go.

Certainly, the visual elements of the game are identical to the movies, which adds a great amount of authenticity to it. The graphics are on point, and the city looks amazing.

We’ll have to see if it’s an open-world action RPG, or if the game follows a more linear path. So far it looks promising, we even got a glimpse of the Robocop car! Hopefully we can drive it around the city!

The game is set to be released on September this year for all the current platforms: PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5
