Newey's Ferrari Move Speculation Amid Cardile's Resignation
Enrico Cardile is leaving his role as Technical Director, effective immediate.
Ferrari's chassis technical director, Enrico Cardile, presented his resignation, effective immediate, on Monday, July 8. Team Director Fred Vasseur will oversee this role for the time being.
Cardile had been working with Ferrari since 2005, so his departure puts an end to a career of almost 2 decades at the Scuderia from Maranello. Cardile will join Aston Martin as Team Director for the 2025 season, giving him enough time to prepare for the significant regulation changes coming in 2026.
Former Mercedes Performance Director Loic Serra is due to join Ferrari in October, it is unsure if he will take chassis-related responsibilities, given the fact that there is a void in the position.
Adrian Newey announced that he was leaving Red Bull at the end of this season. The news started a chain reaction of rumors and speculations about his future. Officially, there is no word on his future, but rumors heavily link Newey to Ferrari. Lewis Hamilton, who will join Ferrari in 2025, spoke favorably of Newey, and expressed his desire for him to join the prancing horse.
Aston Martin is another heavy candidate for Newey to join. It is unclear how the British team will shuffle its staff considering Cardile's move and chassis expertise, and if this affects their intentions to hire Newey.
What are your thoughts on Cardile's resignation and move to Aston Martin? Does this fuel Newey's rumored Ferrari move? Let me know in the comments below.
